Have an emergency battery backup home system, or a battery paired with a solar or photovoltaic array? Join our Optimized Battery rewards program and earn $150 each year for every kilowatt (kW) of energy your battery provides.
How does the program work?
- A typical home battery backup system could earn $450 each year in rewards.
- We’ll never fully discharge your battery.
- During the highest usage months and hours, we’ll briefly use stored energy to offset your home’s usage from the electrical grid.
All energy adjustments happen automatically, so you won’t notice it! You’ll continue earning rewards, and your battery will recharge the same day.
Rewards are paid seasonally, two seasonal periods per year.
If your battery provides 1.5 kW each season to offset usage during high usage periods:
1.5 kW per season x $150/kW = $225 per season or $450 per year in rewards.
Our programs help you earn by shifting your energy use. In turn, this helps us provide reliable, cost-effective energy to all customers during high usage periods.

Seasonal Program Periods:
Summer
June 1–August 31
4–7 p.m.
Winter
January 1–February 28 (or 29)
6–9 a.m. and 6–8 p.m.
Seasonal program periods will exclude weekend and holidays. Earn a maximum $400 reward per season based on your battery’s kW energy offset.
After enrolling, there’s no further action needed! It’s an easy way to help us continue to provide consistent electricity while using more affordable energy sources, and reward you at the same time.
